Modular isn't what you think.
Modular, or systems built construction is one of several ways to construct a building. Modular homes differ from “stick-built” homes in that they are not built on the job site with individual “sticks” of 2×4’s or other framing material. Rather, a modular home is built in a highly regulated manufacturing facility that is temperature, humidity and quality controlled. All of the materials from framing to finishing are absolutely identical to those found in a stick built structure, however used in such a way to produce a higher quality product thanks to strict manufacturing regulations and quality control practices.
Make no mistake, modular homes are not “manufactured” or “mobile” homes. This is an entirely different type of construction that is similar, but modular homes are built on wood framing identical to, if not better than stick built homes with traditional floor base system.
